It's ugly...yeah...but I'll buy it and sell it for a pretty penny in the future. Or maybe...if we buy it it might turn into Chuck Norris's mom and go on a rampage in NYC!

ok...so someone went over it with the airbrush tool to "merge" a few colours...still looks nothing like the bushbaby photos posted earlier. It also really doesn't look like it fits into Guild Wars...it's just...weird. Like a cat that's got no fur...

*shrugs*...maybe it looks better when you actually see it in game.

Default To All Aussies!!!

To all Australians reading this thread and concerned about not getting a US issue of PC Gamer for the mini....walk down to your local newsagent and see if they can get it in for you...most of them already do get it in, and only at most 2 (YES 2) weeks after release in the US. How do I know this...cos I live in a crappy 75000 person town in central Qld.

Newsagents have order codes for every major publication in the world...they can get you anything! I got my last PC Gamer issue for NF by walking in and looking on the shelf!! So if they don't have it...ASK them, and stop berating ANet in a forum for making a sales deal with a worldwide publication that's available everywhere (maybe not China)

GW2....no confirmation on a GW2...don't promote misinformation people. And in the very slim chance that there is one and that its set in the future....I hope Gwen comes back to provide timetravel for my chars!

yea those asuras will ruin the game, it will be just lik that one time when nightfall came out, and we all read in pc gamer how there would be weapon inscriptions. Man did those ever ruin the game.

...oh wait, it didn't.

I find the choice of name interesting. Asuras were Hindu gods of the underworld opposed to the Devas, Hindu Gods of heaven.

Asura is also a God from the Conan stories.

If it were a playable race, I'd play one. I've been playing a human in GW for almost two years. A change would be nice.

You have to order it as a back issue, but all you have to do is wait until the next mag comes out after that one, which will probably be before the European one's come out anyway. However, they do take a long time to ship, so you probably won't get them until everyone else already has there.

Thanks mate. Much appreciated. I'll look into it. Also, I may consider just going through a newsagent, like Halius Novadore suggested. I'll have a look at both options.

Now, on to a more important point. Which is this: Holy crap, people. Are you guys even human? How do you think Anet will feel when they read posts like this:

I'm not picking on you two, it's just your posts were the most accessible (more recent, when I actually wrote this. I wrote it an hour or so ago, but then couldn't get onto guru due to database problems) and also they were actually very offensive. I've been appalled at the reactions from people on forums before, but never like this. The dev team works hard at bringing new things into the game. Maybe they're trying to add more depth, so that the game has more than just huge monsters. But looking at these forums, if I were Anet I would have closed up shop within the first month, simply because the work being done wasn't being appreciated.

Also, Celestial Beaver, you have obviously never used the fill tool in paint, or any other program. The fill tool produces a solid block of colour. Either you have a problem with seeing depth in colours (in which case I apologise profusely), or... well, I can't really think of an or. It's pretty obvious that you were just being a bit cruel, and you really hit the mark. A graphics designer hearing something like what you said about some of his work would be feeling pretty damn crap right now.

Criticism is a good thing. I'm not trying to argue that you shouldn't criticise the dev team. But this isn't criticism. You see something you don't like, so you insult the people who made it. How about adding some constructive comments (Just for the record, saying it's cartoony is not constructive. It looks nothing like a cartoon)

I also think it's not the prettiest creature ever. I mean, it's really cute in its own little way. But the thing I like about it, apart from the effort that has gone into it to make it look really awesome from a graphics point of view (the graphical aspect of it really is beautiful), is it's something unique to the game so far.

Also, finally, for all of you thinking that cutesy animals shouldn't belong in the world of GW, why not? The real world has cutesy animals, why shouldn't GW? The Asura reminds me of this little critter:

sorry....but define cartoony...it isnt even cartoony at all IMO...its how the creature's supposed to look

by saying that its crappy, ur indirectly insulting the art team. ArenaNet's art team is one of the best in the world
(infact, after reading several comments on in being ugly, i really feel sorry for ArenaNet esp after theyve put in so much effort into it)
I'm not insulting anyone. As models and character design go, it's very good. However, it just doesn't fit in GW. Maybe GW2, who knows? If I was shown this and asked what game I'd see it in, I'd say WoW and never even think of GW. That's my point. One of the main problems with WoW is the cartoony graphics (characters). Even though GW has weird creatures, they're all in the same vein, this one isn't.

By cartoony, I mean cutesy, cudely. Something that would make my daughter say "awwe cootchy coo ...". I've got a bad feeling that this, and GW2 is going to be aimed at the Asian community. This is exactly how they like their characters to look. A few cute characters is fine, I'm just worried the whole game is going that way. This is the first sign of a design shift in the game. Maybe it's not, nobody but the dev know this, but I'm just stating my opinion.

what i wanna know is if you can just do /special and have it pop in your inventory like varesh so i can have it in prei dont want it to be where i have to have a quest to get it.....even though i cant really figure out what that would be lol.

I dont have a a subscription to pc gamer so im buying it in april when it comes on shelves on the 4th or whatever it said. So if anyone gets it sooner and can get it in their inventory it would be nice to hear whether you can or not.

I totally agree with not wanting all these cutesy characters in the game... that's going to make Guild Wars seem... immature.

This is the first time I've seen the community unified...

...in hate for this abomination.

At least now it will be easy to see which players in game are (1) female or (2) under the age of 12.

I mean, South Africa ?! Lol?! Where's Spain and Portugal? We also have lots of game magazines, and I'm sure they wouldn't refuse that...
For a magazine to offer the miniature there's two things that need to happen. One: that we offer it to the magazine. Two: that the magazine takes up that offer. We've made the same offer to magazines throughout Europe: if a country is not represented, then it is because that offer was not taken up.

Now, having said that, please be aware that the list may be expanded over coming weeks as more magazines finalise their coverage of the upcoming GW news. That coverage may include offering the Asura miniature. However, I will re-iterate: the ultimate choice of whether to offer it or not is made by the magazines.
